The 26 Major Advantages to Reading More Books and Why 3 in 4 People Are Being Shut Out of Success

Are you reading enough books?  If not, why not?

Check out this post to see why you should.

I read a Associated Press-Ipsos poll revealing that 1 in 4 adults read no books last year. Yes, that’s 25% of the adults out there are reading zero books. This is sad.

I knew intuitively the number of books read each year had gone down but to zero? Ridiculous!

Beating Adwords is a concise and clearly written guide that is easy to understand.  I'd say it's geared for both beginners with no internet marketing experience and expert marketers who need help fine tuning their marketing campaigns.  Aside from the many people who have use Beating Adwords to promote their own products.  It is also a an ebook that many people have used to successfully start making money online through Pay Per Click affiliate marketing.

The book starts out building a solid foundation for pay per click.  From the updates I've downloaded, I can see Beating Adwords is always on top of the changes.  If you actually follow the strategies in the book, instead of just answering to your boss for the rest of your life, you will earn money, and probably sooner then you think.

To "Beat Adwords" means to get the best results possible from AdWords and AdSense by beating the competition and beating Google's ways of controlling webmasters and advertisers, to get maximum return from your campaigns.  There are hundreds of guides, manuals and ebooks on Google AdWords and AdSense being promoted now.

Beating Adwords covers in detail how to make money on the internet using a combination of Pay Per Click (PPC) and Affiliate Marketing.  The advantage of being an affiliate means you earn commissions on product sales when you drive traffic to a merchant's website.  Beating Adwords changed the way we think about Internet Marketing and the book is 100% guaranteed.  Beating AdWords will teach you the ins and outs of PPC advertising, focusing particularity on Google AdWords and will really give you a huge advantage over your competition once you know all the tricks. Beating Adwords shows you how to avoid those costly adwords mistakes that are so discouraging when you're just trying to get a simple campaign up and running on Adwords.  Beating Adwords shows you how to get the maximum clicks for minimum cost.  Beating Adwords shows you how to use Adwords competitors to your advantage.

If you know nothing about affiliate marketing then Beating Adwords will bring you up to speed.  One area that Beating Adwords is a little weak in is free methods of promotion.  If you have been considering buying a Pay Per Click guide, Beating Adwords is far and away the better choice.

Techniques

This is really easy when you know how to configure your landing pages and implement effective bidding techniques.  techniques have helped pure beginners with no internet marketing.  It provides step by step instruction for understanding the basics, and progresses towards more advanced techniques.  It includes a section on free promotional techniques to give you a little more latitude, and includes free website templates.

Sections 2 and 3 offer an examination of Google Adwords and techniques to choose affiliate programs and to find profitable keywords.  Sections 4 to 7 take a close look at Adwords optimization skills, including how to write effective ad copy that sells, how to group relevant keywords, techniques to obtain a high Quality Score, advanced bidding strategies, and dynamic keyword insertion, to name just a few.

The optimization techniques you need to beat your competition can change at any time and usually do.  Every page has current tips and techniques on how to optimize your Adwords campaigns.  It not only includes a step-by-step outline for newbie marketers, it covers the most elaborate techniques and strategies that marketers can use to essential *beat Adwords*.  The techniques described are focused towards creating multiple streams of income.  It not only includes a step-by-step outline for beginners to Adwords, but it also covers the most elaborate techniques and strategies that online marketers can use to make money online.

Hormone to banish shyness?

A study by University of Zurich, Switzerland is reporting that a hormone nasal spray might just eliminate shyness.  If the spray is given 30 minutes before a social interaction appears to help shy people interact better.

It was hailed as the "trust" hormone, then the "mind-reading" hormone. Now it seems oxytocin may also help people with social phobia to interact.

Markus Heinrichs at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and colleagues are studying 70 people with generalised social phobia, characterised by overwhelming anxiety and self-consciousness in social situations.

Link: Hormone spray could banish shyness - being-human - 18 July 2007 - New Scientist.

I don't really like quick fixes like this to banish shyness when cognitive behavior therapy and simple practice can do so much to "cure" the problem.  Scientists are constantly developing new drugs that eliminate this or that fear.  I read recently about one that makes you forget a traumatic incident forever.

The quick solution might seem like a good one, but by forgetting events is like forgetting who you are.  Various events make up our lives.  If we start deleting them at will then where does that leave us?

With shyness, I'd much rather see someone work through it.  Stand and conquer the shyness as opposed to become dependent on a spray or a pill.  It's the same with most trauma.  Do I really need to forget my 6th grade teacher hitting me in the head with a book?  It was certainly traumatic at the time.  But coping and going beyond is a much better choice in most cases.

Your thoughts?

10 + 10 Mistakes New Bloggers Make

Kevin from Blogging Tips lists 10 mistakes new bloggers make. Here are his, mine will follow....

· Repeating what other bloggers are saying -

· No Opinion / Scared to rock the boat -

· Link Trains -

· Spamming other blogs with comments -

· Spending more time commentating that writing posts -

· Promoting their blog before its ready -

· Blogging about too many subjects

· Erratic posting frequency -

· Trying to make money instead of just concentrating on running a good blog -

· Expecting to have a successful blog within 3 months -

Link:   Top 10 mistakes new bloggers make.

This is good advice, the link trains is a new one on me, but it screams that it wouldn't work in the long run.

But some other mistakes new and old bloggers make:

  1. Getting into the mindset that a post should be a certain length and never exceeding or going below that length.
  2. Not spending adequate time proofing for errors and readability.
  3. Giving up the first month
  4. Not building a community by responding to comments
  5. Not writing every day (notice I didn't say posting) writing - this blogging stuff takes practice
  6. Writing in a dry tone, no personality You need to sell yourself baby!
  7. Making the blog's subject too broad Welcome to the Food blog wink
  8. Not seeking out similar blogs to market to
  9. Blogging negatively about the company they workED for.
  10. Not thinking through what they want from their blog before they begin it.  This is common goal setting, planning out what they want long term helps to avoid mistakes in the short.

Unfortunately I've made my share of mistakes starting out.  If you make a mistake, correct it and move on.  Mistakes are a part of creating something new, something beneficial for your life.  You can't do it all perfectly the first time so try not to fall too hard, and get back up when you do stumble.

Try New Things, Fail and One Day Be Successful

Tom Peter's couldn't have said it better in his Tom Topic #1...

He recommends us trying all sorts of new things, experience failure, experience success.

For a long time now, that has been my philosophy. I've always experimented and played. Being a comic early on was fun, it was entertaining. I used that as a stepping stone to public speaking. Playing with computers was fun, I broke all sorts of things, I got a lot right too. Overall, In the long run, I've found myself more successful by just getting out there and doing.

So many people are afraid of making the wrong decision or doing something wrong. Fact is, nobody can predict the right way 100% of the time so what the hey, do it anyway.

Link: Tom Topic #1.

It's all about tryin' stuff. It's all about experimentation. It's all about getting' on with getting' on. Which means it's all about ...

Here's the way I see the life of individuals (top list), and organized entities (bottom list):

Go on offense.
Give everybody a shot.
Decentralize.
Try a bunch of stuff.
Make it up as you go along.
Get some stuff wrong.
Laugh a lot.
Get some stuff right.
Become a "success."

Long or Short Articles?

Stuart over at the Earner's Blog debates long versus short articles. His perspective is he wants to get the most said in the least number of words. I too believe in being concise, but for my blog(s) long articles rule. So the verdict? You've got to test both and see which format your readers want. If you just guess or do whatever's easiest you may be losing readers. If you find yourself in the shorter category, here's his philosophy: Link: Long or Short Articles?.

I’m a big believer in trying to get my point across as quickly as possible, so as not to:

  1. Take up too much of YOUR time (remember you’re supposed to be earning & building sites….right?)
  2. Not let you get bored with the post
  3. Maybe tease you with some information so you’ll come back again
  4. I know I don’t need to spell everything out step by step, you’re smart people
  5. Take up hours of my own time

Three Ways To Earn a Million Bucks

Here is a simple list of the 3 ways to earn $1,000,000

Seth Godin covers three basic ways to earn a million dollars.  One is to make 1 dollar from a million people, another through getting $1,000 from 1,000 people or making $10,000 from 100 organizations.  None of these are necessarily right or wrong.

But you have to consider, do you know 1,000,000 people you can market to?  Do you know 1,000?

I agree with him that it's less work to market to just 100 or even 1000 people than 1 million.  But in the beginning stages, you have to start with what you do have and build from there.  Consistently thinking about how you might be able to do the 100 corporations for $10K gig.

Link: Seth's Blog: How to make a million dollars.

Far easier to make a thousand dollars from each of a thousand people, or even $10,000 from a hundred organizations. You can focus on a small hive of people, a group that talks to itself. You can push through a smaller dip and reach a level of recommendation and dominance that makes incremental sales far easier.

How to Get Email Alerts to Sound on Pocket PC?

Ok, I'm stuck.  For months I have been getting email alerts on my Pocket PC.  Ding ding ding it would ring as an email came in.

It didn't matter if it was in my Pocket, in the cradle, in the dishwasher... ok, it never made it to the dishwasher.  But I made my point.

Suddenly the doors closed, the ringing stopped and I have fallen well behind on my mobile emails.  For shame!

Does anyone know how to unbreak the alarm issue?  It's truly annoying.
